About LED
LED means "Light-Emitting-Diode". It is also called luminescent diode. LED is diode which uses the characteristic that the energy turns into light in crystal. When current passes through PN connection in LED diode, the electric power changes to light.
The color of the light is decided by the type of crystal and substance. -
History of LED
Beginning of 1960, LED was studied in the US, and 1970s Japanese made it more stable. LED products began to appear in the market. First LED was red, and yellow and green were also made. 1993, a Japanese company succeeded to create blue LED. Based on the blue, pure green was also produced in 1995. 3 color elements made LED possible to create full-color illumination.
Moreover, because of blue LED, white LED was also created in 1996. LED became to ready to be used in general lighting purpose.

Characteristics of LED
Energy SavingTraffic lights as an example, power consumption is reduced from 70W to 12W.
LED produces more light amount so the power consumption can be also reduced compared to incandescent lamps.
This really makes a difference for a long term usage.LongevityLED has longer lifetime than incandescent lamps.
Therefore, it needs less maintenance and suitable for devices such as traffic lights.High Brightness・Directional CharacteristicsLED manufacture engineering is improved. LED is very bright and easy to recognize.Compact・LightweightYou have more controls over designs because of its size and weight. No Infrared Rays・Ultraviolet RaysPrevent degration from light and make it easy to use anywhere.Less HeatCompared to incandescent lamps, LED is safer to use because of its low heat.
LED can be installed to places where incandescent lamps cannot be installed because of its heat.No Liquid SilverSemiconductor doesn't contain silver and lead.Easy Dimming・BlinkingLED responses 100,000 times quicker than incandescent lamps and possible to do full-color control via DMX signals.

Environment Concern And LED
LED is becoming more and more popular for its longevity, less power consumption and less resource. Compared to incandescent lamps, LED has less heat, which means less AC is needed. LED is the light source that saves energy efficiently. Since LED contributes to reduce CO2, some people say LED is the light that saves the earth. LED can be seen in traffic lights, bike lamps, and so on. LED has been developed and modified everyday. -
